About NZACT

Objective:

The objective of NZACT is to promote the study of the ancient Greek and Roman civilisations.

Organisation:

The Association comprises Officers, Council, Regional Committees and membership.

The Officers comprise a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. They are elected for a two-year term. The Vice-President shall normally become President for a two-year term following his/her Vice-Presidency. Custom and practice has it that the Executive, comprising the Officers of the Association, rotates around the regions. The President, Secretary and Treasurer are normally from one region, with the Vice-President being from the region that will next provide the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Association.

The Council comprises the Officers, Bulletin Editor, and one Representative from each of the four Regions. The Regions are:

  • Auckland – North Auckland, South Auckland and Gisborne
  • Wellington – Taranaki, Hawkes Bay and Wellington
  • Canterbury – Marlborough, Nelson, West Coast and Canterbury
  • Otago-Southland – Otago and Southland


General Meeting:

The biennial conference includes a General Meeting. At this meeting, reports from the Officers of the Association are received, statements of accounts are confirmed, appointments of officers are confirmed, amendments to the Constitution of the Association are considered, and resolutions on matters of general policy may be passed.
