NZACT Professional Development Awards

NZACT Professional Development Awards

The NZACT Professional Development Awards are available to NZACT members.

The sum of $1,000 is set aside each year for this purpose.

Only members of at least three years standing (i.e. in their fourth subscription year) are eligible for an award.

Applicants for the award must submit a formal application to the Executive, stating the project for which the award is sought, the perceived value of the project to the member as an individual and to the Association as a whole, the amount of money applied for, and proposing avenues for dissemination of the outcomes to the membership at large (e.g. by Bulletin articles or talks to groups of members). Applications must include a budget for the whole project, clearly stating other sources of income that have been granted or applied for.

Successful applicants are required to supply a report to the Executive within three months of the completion of the project, in partial fulfilment of their dissemination obligations.

In the unlikely event of a successful candidate not fulfilling the terms of the award, the Executive is empowered to recover part or all of the amount granted to the candidate.

The closing date for applications is 1 February in each year.

NOTES:

  1. The precise nature of projects that may qualify for the awards is deliberately not specified. All applications will be considered on their merits.
  2. The whole or a portion of the available sum may be distributed in any one year. The available sum may be divided between two or more applicants. In the event of the whole sum not being allocated in any year, the unused portion may be carried over to the following year or not at the discretion of the Executive.
  3. In the event that no applications are received for the Professional Development Awards by 1 February, a second round of applications may be undertaken at the discretion of the Executive.
  4. Decisions on the awards will be made by the Executive of the Association.

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE 2009 AWARD(S). They should be addressed to the President, whose contact details are provided inside the front cover of the Bulletin and in the contacts section of this website.
