Consultation for Review of Latin L1 Achievement Standards Materials relating to the review of Latin level 1 achievement standards have been sent to schools, including a consultation questionnaire. The questionnaire needs be returned to the Ministry of Education by Monday 21 May 2007. For further information, contact Anne Adams (e-mail Anne) at the Ministry.
The password for the members' area of the NZACT website is only available to members of the association. The password will be changed on Monday the 18th February 2008 and an e-mail sent to members with the new password details. If you are having trouble accessing the members area of the site, please check first whether you have paid your NZACT subscription for 2008.
Graham Galliers has some books related to Classical Studies and Ancient History for sale. These will be listed on TradeMe, but they are being offered first to members of NZACT. If you are interested in finding out more about the books Graham has on offer please e-mail him directly (e-mail Graham).
Robin Bond's 2005 production of Aristophanes' Frogs is available on commercial quality DVD. This is the production that a number of people attended as part of the 2005 NZACT conference events. The cost is $20 (cash or cash cheque) and it can be ordered through the Department of Classics, University of Canterbury, Private Bag 4800, Christchurch. As part of her post-graduate research, Lynette Thomson is seeking copies of historical curriculum documents relating to Classical Studies. In particular, she would like to get copies of Marking Schedules and Examination Commentaries with exam papers for University Entrance, University Bursary & Scholarships, 1980 - 1991. Copies of Sixth Form Certificate prescriptions 1986 - 1996 and information relating to this qualification would also be appreciated, as well as a copy of a 3rd August 1999 circular to schools that announced the reduction from 5 to 4 UEB topics and copies of the first registered versions of Unit Standards.
